UK gas prices fell on Thursday, with the NBP spot declining 4.8% to 73.50 p/therm. The UK secured its first LNG cargo for February 2026, boosting supply prospects and relieving near-term storage concerns. On the forward curve, the Summer 2026 delivery contract dropped 3% to 63.35 p/therm, as geopolitical risk premiums eased after reports that President Zelenskiy is seeking a meeting with Donald Trump to discuss disputes over territory and nuclear assets.

The UK day-ahead power price plunged more than 29% to 83.50 GBP/MWh, driven by higher wind generation across the country. Further along the curve, the Summer 2026 contract dropped by 2% to close at 69.23 GBP/MWh, following weaker gas market trends.
