The UK spot gas price dipped by 0.8% to 78 p/therm on Thursday, weighed down by expectations of robust pipeline and LNG supply, as the country secured its first LNG cargo for July 2025.

Further along the curve, the Winter 2025 contract eased by 0.3% to 92.30 p/therm after the EU energy committee approved more flexible storage regulations, requiring a 90% fill level between 1 October and 1 December.

The UK spot electricity price dropped by 19% to 61.92 GBP/MWh on Thursday, driven by rising wind generation and strong solar output.
On the forward curve, the UK Winter 2025 power contract edged up slightly to just under 84 GBP/MWh, following a modest uptick in carbon prices.
