Utility SwopShop Weekly Market Insights Week Ending 2nd October

Gas

British gas prices diverged on Thursday, caught between the recovery in Norwegian flows and renewed concerns following attacks on LNG vessels. The NBP Day-Ahead contract lost 1% to settle at 176.50 p/therm, amid recovering Norwegian supply. Further along the curve, the Summer 2027 contract gained 3% to close at 134.51 p/therm, supported by renewed LNG supply concerns.

Power

UK electricity prices also diverged. The day-ahead contract declined by nearly 4% to settle at 154.40 £/MWh, amid an uptick in wind generation. Further along the curve, the Summer 2027 contract gained 2.5% to close at 107.07 £/MWh, tracking the rise in gas prices.
