Utility SwopShop Weekly Market Insights Week Ending 28th November

Gas

UK gas prices fell on Thursday, with the NBP spot contract down 1.5% to 74.90 p/therm, supported by ample supply and milder December weather forecasts. Along the forward curve, the Summer-2026 contract slipped  by 0.9% to 66.51 p/therm, buoyed by optimism over progress in the Geneva Russia–Ukraine talks, despite key issues remaining unresolved and no set deadline.

Power

The UK day-ahead power price fell by 8% to 66.53 GBP/MWh, pressured by stronger renewable generation and weaker demand. Along the forward curve, the Summer-2026 contract dipped by 0.9% to 68.10 GBP/MWh, following the downward trend in gas prices.
