Gas

UK day-ahead gas price edged 0.7% lower on Thursday, to settle at 98.00 GBP/MWh weighed by stable flows from Norway and plentiful gas supplies.

On the curve the Winter 2026 contract also eased by 1.5% to 102.03 GBP/MWh, on hopes for more LNG flows from Qatar as the Strait of Hormuz reopens.

Power

UK spot electricity prices continued to decline on Thursday, with the day-ahead contract falling 0.6% to 114.29 GBP/MWh, pressured by steady renewable generation that helped keep supply comfortable.

Meanwhile, the October 2026 baseload power contract eased 0.4% to 92.68 GBP/MWh, largely following weaker natural gas prices, which reduced the marginal cost of power generation.
