British near-term gas prices fell on Thursday, with the NBP spot dropping by 4% to 85.80 p/therm as Norwegian gas flows recovered following a sharp decline due to scheduled maintenance.
Further along the curve, the Winter 2025 contract slipped by 0.9% to 96.29 p/therm. The restart of key facilities eased supply concerns and gave confidence to traders who had been wary of extended unplanned outages potentially disrupting storage refilling efforts ahead of the winter.
The UK spot electricity price climbed by 4%, reaching 88.58 GBP/MWh on Thursday amid further expected drop in wind output, with solar supply also declining. In contrast, the Winter 2025 electricity price decreased by 1.5%, settling at 87.38 GBP/MWh, moving in tandem with bearish gas and carbon markets.
