Gas

A fresh overnight Russian drone and missile attack targeted gas production sites run by DTEK in Ukraine’s Poltava region, also affecting Naftogaz facilities. Concerns that additional strikes could raise import requirements pushed British gas prices slightly higher. The spot price rose by 0.4% to 81.31 p/therm on Thursday, while the Summer 2026 delivery contract gained 0.8% to 76.31 p/therm, despite overall abundant supply and weak demand.

Power

The UK’s spot electricity price dropped by 3.2% to 89.48 GBP/MWh on Thursday, even though wind generation forecasts remain unusually low for this season.

Meanwhile, the UK Summer 2026 power contract climbed by 1.3% to 72.18 GBP/MWh, buoyed by increases in gas and carbon prices.
