Week ending: 10/04/2026

Gas

British gas prices rose on Thursday amid continued uncertainty over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, despite a US–Iran ceasefire. Shipping activity remained subdued, with no LNG cargoes transiting, indicating ongoing disruptions to flows. However, upside was partly capped by reports that Israel is planning talks with Lebanon.

The NBP spot contract gained 1% to 115 p/therm, while the Winter 2026 delivery contract climbed by more than 2% to 117.46 p/therm.

Power

The UK spot power price edged up 0.6% to 91.67 GBP/MWh on Thursday, as colder temperatures and weaker wind output boosted demand.

Along the forward curve, the UK Winter 2026 contract rose by 1.7% to 94.64 GBP/MWh, tracking gains in gas and carbon markets.
