British gas prices edged higher on Thursday, with NBP spot rising 2.7% to 161.25 p/therm on stronger demand, while the Winter 2026 contract surged by 3% to 162.60 p/therm amid supply concerns.



On Thursday, weaker renewable generation supported day-ahead power prices, with the contract trading 1% higher at just under 142 £/MWh. Further along the curve, the Winter-26 power contract rose by 2.2% to 133.39 £/MWh, tracking stronger gas prices.
