Ongoing geopolitical risks were weighed against comfortable market fundamentals on Thursday, leaving UK gas prices largely unchanged. The NBP spot contract edged 0.3% lower to 131.80 p/therm, as traders assessed whether current price levels would continue to provide technical support. Further along the curve, the Winter 2026 contract gained 0.4% to 133.86 p/therm, supported by supply uncertainties, recent heatwave-driven demand, and increased competition from Asia for LNG cargoes.

Higher renewable generation weighed on UK electricity prices on Thursday. An increase of around 1.83 GW in wind output, combined with robust solar generation, reduced the need for thermal power, pushing the spot contract down by 6.3% to 124.67 GBP/MWh.
Further along the curve, the UK Winter 2026 power contract edged 0.3% lower to 115.29 GBP/MWh, tracking weaker carbon prices.
