Utility SwopShop Weekly Market Insights Week Ending 22nd May

Gas

On Thursday, British gas prices edged lower, with NBP spot down 1.8% to 123.80 p/therm, as milder weather forecasts and comfortable storage levels weighed on prompt demand. Further along the curve, Winter-26 delivery prices remained flat at 122.01 p/therm amid balanced long-term market fundamentals.

Power

On Thursday, the British day-ahead electricity price fell by more than 7% to 106.25 GBP/MWh, pressured by stronger renewable generation.

Along the forward curve, the Winter-26 contract increased by 0.2% to 102.46 GBP/MWh, despite softer movements in the wider energy complex.
